Penelope Studios

Penelope Studios is a conceptual magazine project that approaches typographic composition in a complex and experimental manner. My goal was to create a series of vastly different compositions within the magazine as a whole. I wanted each spread to take you from one place to an entirely different mindspace. I began with the cover page, a more moody, Art Nouveau kind of feel. I then jumped around in the creation, aiming to make the next spread as unexpected as the one before. I loved playing around with the construction of these pages and the emotions I wanted to pull from the viewer as they read along. Two out of the six articles are AI generated text, as I wanted to focus more on the composition during their creation (#2: “You'll Never Believe What I Heard…” and #6: “What Makes You So Sure?”). However, as I continued my pages, I found that writing my own words for the articles gave each design element that much more meaning.
